Give Member Notation feature back to coordinators
« on: October 25, 2020, 06:23:29 am »
There is a feature on the web site that allows entry of a "notation" on a member's account when someone experiences an issue with a member.  It's intended to give a "head's up" to other coordinators who may have that person on their event - forewarned is forearmed.

This feature was given to all volunteers by default, but at some point the COC changed it so that it was only available to executive members, not to all volunteers.  I'm not sure of the reasoning behind this, but I disagree with it and would like to give this ability back to all volunteers.

Interesting, I wasn't aware of the change.  If the point of this feature is to essentially help protect volunteers from a potentially difficult situation then I think it only stands to reason that all volunteers have access to it.

I've never used this in the past. Is it apparent there is a note on the participates file? I agree - should be open to the people doing the work - the coordinators.

Yeah, it's used for coordinators to alert other coordinators of issues with members, for example, "Bob showed up in sandals with no water for a 20km hike - make sure he's prepared", or "Mary refused to wear a mask and threw pig's blood on everyone".  That kind of thing.

Agreed, it should go back to being used by coordinators.
